History
The Committee for Excellence in Education was founded in 1984 to support and provide professional development for Fauquier County public school teachers.
In 2013, school officials, school board members, parents, and business leaders met to discuss expanding the mission to benefit not only the county's public school teachers, but its students and administrators, in addition to creating more equitable learning opportunities to better prepare students for the future.
The Committee For Excellence In Education rebranded as Fauquier Excellence in Education Foundation in 2014.
In 2017, the Foundation, in partnership with Fauquier County Public Schools and Lord Fairfax Community College, received the inaugural Virginia Governor's Award for Excellence and Innovation in Education in the category of Community Partnerships and Collaborations.
To date, the Foundation has received over $225,000 in grants to support programs including the Outdoor Lab, the Environmental Studies Academy, Books on the Bus, STEM Summer Camps, Eyes On Wildlife, My First Book Club, Orton-Gillingham Institute of Multi-Sensory Education, educator professional development, and more.
