History
In 1984, The Committee for Excellence in Education was founded to support and provide professional development for teachers in Fauquier County Public Schools.
In 2013, school officials, school board members, parents and business leaders met to discuss expanding the mission to benefit Fauquier County Public Schools, teachers, students and administrators, and to create more equitable learning opportunities to better prepare students for the future.
In 2014, The Committee For Excellence In Education rebranded as Fauquier Excellence In Education Foundation.
In 2017, the Foundation, in partnership with Fauquier County Public Schools and Lord Fairfax Community College, received the inaugural Virginia Governor's Award for Excellence and Innovation in Education in the category of Community Partnerships and Collaborations.
To date the Foundation has received over $225,000 in grants to support programs including the Outdoor Lab, the Environmental Studies Academy, Books On The Bus, STEM Summer Camps, Eyes On Wildlife, My First Book Club, Orton-Gillingham Institute of Multi-Sensory Education, educator professional development and more.
